Ontdekt! / Caught!

Grote opwinding hier in huis.

Bijna pakjesavond!

Big excitement!

The boys were looking for  a lightbulb and they found a lot of Sinterklaas presents instead! The youngest sheep came to us and told us all about it, so I shot up the stairs and steered the boys downstairs. As Mr Sheep told them a story about how Sinterklaas asked him to hide some presents and that he didn't do a very good job, I moved everything.

The eldest sheep suspected something and accused me of re-hiding the lot (well, he was right, wasn't he?) But it all ended with a search for "zwarte piet" tracks in the snow. There must have been a very quick piet who took al the presents.

Almost Sinterklaas-eve!!

** Sinterklaas is a children's feast with lots of presents. A bit like the American Santa Claus but then, he is a bishop with a black side-kick (zwarte piet) and riding a horse on the roofs to throw present through the chimney. So Dutch (and Flemish) children put their shoe in front of the fire (or central heating or even the post-box) and receive chocolate and presents in it. On Sinterklaas-eve (december 5th) we have "pakjesavond"and after a good beating on the door Sinterklaas leaves a sack (or laundry basket or so) with presents behind.**
